At Pain Away Clinic, many patients visit us with complaints of back pain. While there are various treatment methods, today I’d like to introduce exercise therapy as an effective approach.
One common cause of back pain is poor posture, which places unnecessary strain on the lower back. For example, slouching or having an exaggerated arch in your lower back can lead to discomfort. Additionally, pelvic misalignment can also contribute to back pain. So, how can we correct these misalignments?
While chiropractic care or osteopathy can help improve alignment, the effects often wear off if the underlying habits remain unaddressed. Everyday behaviors, such as improper sitting posture or carrying bags on one side, are frequent causes of misalignment. To prevent back pain, it’s crucial to identify the root causes of these imbalances and then strengthen your muscles to create a body that resists misalignment.
Specifically, the muscles to focus on include the core, back muscles, and abdominal muscles. Weak back muscles can make you more prone to slouching, while weak abdominal muscles can lead to an exaggerated arch in your lower back.
At Pain Away Clinic, we are equipped with an exercise studio and also offer group training sessions focused on improving posture. These sessions are led by instructors who have studied human anatomy and muscles extensively for four years at university, ensuring that the exercises are not only effective but also tailored to address individual needs.
